I am pleased to announce that a selection of my greetings cards of Richmond are now available in Waterstones, Richmond.

They have taken pride of place in Waterstones’ Local Interest section as soon as you walk into the store, so please take a look the next time you pass (and maybe even support my photography by buying one or two!)

I have a selection of 5 greetings cards so far which, as well as being available to buy online are also available in the brilliant ‘Gift’ shop on Crown Road in St Margarets.

Richmond photograph shortlisted in ‘My View of London’ competition

I am proud to announce that my photograph taken of early morning rowers on the River Thames from Richmond Bridge has been shortlisted in the My View of London photographic contest.

This high profile photography competition had support from Joan Collins, Tamara Beckwith as well as WBA Heavyweight Champion David Haye.

The competition was a collaboration between the newly opened Park Plaza Westminster Hotel and the Fight for Sight charity.

Fight for Sight is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to funding world-class research into the prevention and treatment of blindness and eye disease.

My photo will be part of a month long exhibition of in the Park Plaza so when you’re next in Central London please do take a look. The print is also available to buy online or in the Timothy Graham Gallery in St Margarets.

Photography exhibition at The Plough, East Sheen

Within walking distance of Richmond Park, The Plough is the perfect pub to showcase the stunning photographs of Richmond and Richmond Park from local photographer, Steve Morgan.

So, with the weather finally improving why not combine an invigorating walk in Richmond Park with lunch or dinner at the relaxing Plough in East Sheen. There is plenty of outdoor dining if the weather is warm or if you arrive for dinner on a colder evening snuggle up in one of alcoves or nooks inside and savour some of the options on the inspired menu such as ‘stuffed chicken breast with wild mushroom risotto’, or the amazing Sunday Lunch.

More about the photographer

Originally from rural Suffolk, Steve Morgan has lived locally in Richmond for many years and was drawn to the area by the beautiful landscapes of Richmond Park, the River Thames and surrounding areas.

Steve graduated with a Fine Art degree in 1997 and soon had a number of group and solo exhibitions across the UK. His work has been selected by Turner Prize winner, Mark Wallinger, and by actor and presenter Griff Rhys-Jones to represent artistic talent from East Anglia. His photographic passion for Richmond is evident in his prints in this exhibition.

What’s more, his beautiful prints of Richmond Park and the local areas are available to buy framed or unframed, or now as greetings cards.

Prints of the beautiful River Thames at Richmond

We are lucky in Richmond to have to River Thames pass through east to west (or west to east depending on the tide!) which provides some dramatic and memorable sunsets and sunrises as well as some great panoramas of Richmond riverside and bridge.

Grainy prints of deer in Richmond Park

Going to Richmond Park in atmospheric low-light conditions is one of the most exciting times to photograph the deer. The following photographs were taken with ISO 1600 for a really grainy and moody look just as the last remaining light was fading and I was left to get out of the park in darkness.

Black & White or Colour prints?

Different audiences prefer different photographs. Most people buy black & white prints of Richmond Park for their homes etc, whereas magazine and web publishers tend to prefer the more vibrant colour photographs when downloading stock images of Richmond.

This can cause some problems when choosing the lead photo to use on the website. This grainy and atmospheric image of White Ash pond in Richmond Park is a good example.
